Tis' the Season

The season of football in Athens is upon us. UGA kicked their season off and I don't really care, why am I talking about this. The only reason I care is because in the aftermath of all of the Dawg hooplah, I went to visit my friend again. There was nothing but left over paraphernalia from the game, a few stragglers enjoying Sunday brunch, and for the cool kids, froyo. Frozen yogurt, oh yeah.

This is also the season for boots and jackets and all other fall wear. Well, we're almost there but I've already been wearing these Wanted boots like crazy. They sent them to me over the summer and since then they've been burning a hole in my closet. I was anxious to bust em' out. And bust em' out I did. They're not bad to walk in either.

Can we say Thank God and Amen?

Finally we had a snippet of sun and warmth and I capitalized on it. I was giddy from being able to dress for fun over comfort, but as I was digging through my closet to find something with color I came up empty-handed. I need to throw some brights in my closet.

Aside from having happy weather, I had happy candy. I'll say it: Valentine's Day is good for CANDY and nothing else. I have a love life, yes, but I can love him any ol' time. CANDY is happy crack.

I came home too tired from classes and work to even want to go through with our plans, and I don't even feel like I'm lacking anything. I wish I was more romantic, but alas, I am a realist.

But Happy Valentine's Day to you all my pretty people! Love, CANDY and good vibes to ya!

Closet Nostalgia

A while ago, I did a video on some looks that I really liked for Fall. The outfits I put together ended up being some of my favorites, not just for fall, favorite period.

Now that it's chillier, I miss some of the clothes I can't wear anymore and nostalgia is kicking in. I've also had to sell some of the clothes featured in the video because, well, times are hard on a college student with grown up expenses.

If you aren't a fan of watching videos or for whatever reason haven't seen it, here are most of them. These are captured from  the video, so they are pretty blurry, but you get the gist of some outfit combos you can put together if you're lacking cold weather inspiration. 

 A good way to winterize these? Adding tights, scarves, gloves, a sturdy coat and boots. But even adding those items won't stop my lust for warmer weather and the clothes that come with it.

Walk On

Thank goodness for 70 degree days in November. Although I do have my cold weather closet prepped, I really just love the warmth from the sun. 

I've been trying the military styles in the smallest of ways. I'm not one to go all out when it comes to trends, but pieces here and there never hurt anyone. I bought my coat, but before that I bought these skinny cargo pants from H&M. Ridiculously cheap, they were 12.50. Hoorah. Is it tacky to say how cheap something was? 

Either way, I'm saying it! Oh, and the high, puffy bun thing is the result of me leaving my hair curly. I don't feel like straightening all the time. But also like it because it lets me show my tattoo. Yes, yes. I am tatted up. Like a G : ) How gangster can a tiny pink bow be though?

Wherever The Wind Blows

 

Why do people determine the weather by the previous day's weather? "Well, it was warm yesterday, so it should be warm today." 

I learned the hard way that this reasoning is completely off. I was excited to be able to wear a skirt since Monday's weather was pleasant, but then big, bad Mr.WindCloud decided to show up and ruin my Tuesday.  Unfortunate. 

In other happenings, I got a journalism scholarship from my school so...I got myself a new coat! It was long overdue. Fashion Sin Alert: I've been wearing the same charcoal wool peacoat for 3 years. For shame. But I tend to be on the frugal side and coats are crazy high in price.

You guys will see it soon if this frosty weather gets worse, which no doubt it will.

Crying Clouds

Not particularly a fan of the rain. Yes, it's supposed to be soothing and la,la,la, but when I have to trudge across campus I can't say that I find it soothing.

Despite the rain, it wasn't a cold day, so I didn't have to wrap myself up like an Eskimo. Pulled out the leather jacket son! What? I don't know why I am completely attached to that bomber, but I am. And it's unhealthy. I mean, I've tried getting away with it in 80 degree weather....lapse in judgement.

It's Been A While

It's crazy that I can wear this at the beginning of October.

I haven't posted in a while. Lo siento mi amor. It's been crazy.
My workout schedule, school, work, being a Fashion Club ambassador at my school, newspaper stories, boyfriend, I can go on. But, no excuses!

News Update: I am also now a beauty writer for Manik Magazine, an online publication. I'm very excited about branching out.

Now, more recent happenings. PRIDE! I went to Atlanta Pride for the second year in a row. I am a diagnosed Fag Hag. Really and Truly. Saw the the Starlight Cabaret Drag Show and man, those trannies know how to cut a rug. My favorite performance was a faux Whitney Houston doing "It's Not Right, but It's Okay" Thunderpuss mix. The man was snorting pretend coke on stage!

I don't believe I'd been hit on that much in a while. Men and women alike. Even some gay men kicked in with the compliments. It was pretty funny. Anywho, I promise to not slip like this again. Pinky Promise.

Fall Preview

I've been mentally preparing myself for Fall.

Fall is slow to creep up on us in the Southeast, but when it does, I'll be ready. I've been runway hunting and magazine peeping and I think I've got it down.

Here's what I've decided based on my research.

• Rich reds, almost burgundy is the color to do away with typical fall neutrals - It's called oxblood
  
• But, throwing a camel, khaki or olive neutral on is still more than acceptable.
• Long skirts erase the mini's that owned the summer.
• Leather is still a go to fabric - Thank Goodness I have my bomber.
• So is velvet - Thank goodness I bought that vest.
  
• Menswear is still around.
  
• And boots, booties, whatever you call them, are here to stay.

I'm going to do a little bit of shopping today, and I just might do a Fall lookbook video, so be on the watch. I love summer, but I can't wait for fall, with all it's mild, breezy weather, to roll around.
