THE TALE OF THE TWO RED SKIRTS

Even on my day off from retail, I get thrown back into retail. I'm not complaining though, as today I was able to go to a thrift boutique in Atlanta I'd been wanting to go to for the longest.

I'm so happy someone decided that wearing dead people's clothes was a trend, because it saves me money. It's also a greener alternative to buying new clothes that children in China get paid ¢15/hr. to make using the earth's limited materials. You see kids, thrifting makes you a good person and saves the environment.

Although my initial plan was to stay home and watch Girls illegally, my gal-pal from Ohio told me she was leaving in three weeks and that we had to have some city action before she left. I obliged and to the city we went.

At Sherane's Vintage Closet we were greeted by sweet shopgirls and my new best friend, a fiercely sequined mannequin. Here is where I was faced with the question of which red skirt would be the right red skirt? Today I realized I buy the same thing over and over again. I pick up things that are in the same family all while saying, "I want to try something different!"
My new best friend was in good company, vintage Diane von Furstenberg & more sequins.
So, after a 20 minute debate of which red skirt would be the red skirt, I chose the one with the most color and accepted that I always get what I always get because I know it works.

And then we had muhfreakin' cupcakes at Camicakes! In case you didn't know, the way to a woman's anything is through cupcakes. You want my social security number? Give me a red velvet cupcake and you've got a deal!

Spur of the Moment

So, here hows this happened. School is practically over, so now my Mondays are just about free. No class and no more work (since I've been paid as much as they can give me), so I had an entire beautiful Monday free to hang with my friend Britt.

And being that I live five minutes from a Goodwill I hadn't raided yet, we decided to check their stock. And holy cow they had some good stuff. I spent $21, but for what I got, I don't even feel the slightest bit guilty. I will do an extensive "What She Bought" post tomorrow, or the day after that. Whenever I have time. You guys, I seriously am so content with everything I have. You'll see what I mean.

Anyhow, after out shopscapde (can I make that word happen?), we decided we had the munchies. Fortunately, not far from we were was the square, so we went to a restaurant there. Being the opportunist that I am, I changed into my new threads. What a blogger move. I wanted to christen some of my favorite new pieces for your viewing pleasure. Don't judge me, okay.

If I Weren't Me

I like to think that I know a thing or two about what's hip and cool. Despite my daily jeans & tee wear for classes, I do like, from time to time, to release the inner style tiger (I'm going to make that phrase happen. If Charlie Sheen can make tiger blood happen...) and be feisty.

And I gotta say, these leggings, they are all sorts of fun. This is what a 19-year old should be wearing! But the classically styled gal in me still thinks these are a bit risky to throw on for any old school day. This was my experiment with them.

I like how it came together. I feel like a funkier me, the me that would've been if I'd stayed in Brooklyn (note the doorknockers) throughout my teen years.

I still lean toward a more feminine style, so who knows when I'll wear this. But style is ever evolving so I might grow into it. Until then, these babies will just sit in my closet waiting...unless you all have any recommendations for how I can wear these?

What She Bought

This morning as I was throwing together a 5-minute outfit, I realized that there was nothing fresh in my closet. Not fresh as in just washed, but as in recently purchased with tags still attached and the scent of the store still lingering.
Not that I go on large movie-esque shopping sprees, but I remember when my mother would take me seasonal shopping and I'd come home with bags filled of goodies.
Now, I support myself and I've been doing my hardest to save money, and my closet is showing the outcome.

I decided to go through all the little one here, one there purchases I've made to make myself feel better.  Like I haven't abandoned the thrill of the right purchase. I still can shop, but I guess I'm just prioritizing. Rent+Bills > New Wedged Boots
P.S. What if I wore all of these items together. Imagine that? Wouldn't I look like a hobo. Hilarious.
P.S.S. Everything here is under 10$. Run and tell that homeboy.
