A Pretty Review: Jordana Cosmetics

I've been using Jordana Cosmetics ever since I first got into makeup. The best thing about their products is that they're more affordable than most quality makeup, but still work just as well. How they get their eyeshadows so pigmented and creamy for the price, I don't know. They have such a variety of shades with a bunch of M.A.C. Dupes.

The lip glosses work just like a classic lipgloss, but they smell so good. I think I prefer the fruity candy smell when it comes to glosses. I also got a liquid eyeliner pen, and it glides on intensely and smooth.I just discovered that they have a website too, and it has a wider variety than what they have in stores. The prices are just as low, too! Ending verdict: I recommend Jordana Cosmetics as an alternative to Wet & Wild, E.L.F. and other drugstore brands.

Pink Lips & Animal Print

I'm pretty proud of myself for a few reasons.

1. I'm broadening my lipstick collection and experimenting with fun shades (on a budget!)
2. I've figured our how to make an animal print design on my nails! 

I haven't been doing much clothes shopping lately (I'm trying to improve on my frugality), so little purchases like lipsticks and nail polishes have been holding me over. It's no new necklace or coat, but I'm still just as excited with the outcome of my nails. And the lipstick shade makes me pretty jazzed too. I can't wait to wear it out.

As For The Future

I've already given thought to my more serious New Year's Resolutions (yes, I am one of those people), but now I'm considering the more fun stuff. If you're interested in my real grown-up resolutions, Click Here. As for the other more entertaining ones, read on.

There's more to reinvention and self-improvement than a new hair cut & color, but, those little changes never hurt anybody, right?

I've never been enthused over the idea of having short hair. To me, long hair has always been better. It frames my chubby face, and it's more fun to play with. But, I'm getting older, a little bit more experimental, and my ends are kind of frazzled from heat styling, so a little chop chop might be good.

After I dyed my hair in 11th grade, I decided that it wasn't for me. The upkeep was hard, and it just didn't look natural on me. Luckily the ombre hair (two-toned) trend is becoming acceptable, and I think I can just pull it off. I might try to DIY this one, using this tutorial.Wish me luck!

 If it isn't obvious to you yet, I'm a make-up junkie. That's my love #1, before clothes or shoes. Hence the "Pretty Face" slogan. In my day-to-day, I stick to a pretty ordinary make-up routine, despite my arsenal of products.

I'm going to try to make better use of all my products, especially lipsticks. Reds, wines, plums, pinks, the whole lot of them. I can't wait to try them all out in real life.

I'm sure I'll have much more ideas for things I want to try for the new year, but this is it so far. What are you looking to try out?

All That Glitters

I'm no pro when it comes to doing nails, as you can see. I'm not the most precise, but I do know good pairings when I see em'. So if I can't make it to the salon, I'll still attempt my own manicure.

GALITTER! So damn glittery. I'd have to say that my nails are pretty festive, and I'm rather giddy. Or at least the drag queen in me is.

 I used to think that glitter was just for little girls obsessed with pink and princesses, but I think I'm only now growing into my girlie side. 

The glitter is courtesy of  my friend at Bohemian Rose Rhapsody. Thanks Britt! I'll have to invest in my own  bottle soon.

R.I.P. Plaid?

Is plaid dead?

When plaid reawakened from the 90's grunge grave to be worn by indie hipsters, it was pretty groundbreaking. Everyone everywhere was buying and wearing the trend. I was one of them. I still have a few items in my closet, but lately, I've been hesitant to wear them. 

I do like the ease of my plaid button ups, and I like that it breaks up the monotony of solids, but has it been done to the point of death? I would say, yes. It has been done, a lot. But, I do like my plaid. So if I do pull my lumberjack button up out every once in a while, don't kill me. 

Oh, P.S. I normally do a side part, but I'm feeling this mid-part thing I did. I stopped doing it 7th grade because I thought side bangs hid my chubby face better. Good decision?

Want You To Make Me Feel

I'm a tad behind....but how bloody awesome is this video. The song, eh, it's a catchy fun danceable song, but the video outshines it. 

I am a floral fanatic so it directly spoke to me. I wish she would've had this out during the summer. It makes me want to wear short floral skirts, and cropped tops. Damn her stylists! So I got to thinking: How Can I Translate This For Fall?!  So, I did just that. Here are two examples of how to make the look appropriate for when your buns are freezing.  Now you can be the only girl in the world too, even in the real world when the weather is below 75 degrees :)

Also, I did a make-up how to guide for her make-up from this video! I just loved it, so I had too. Look out for it.

Purple for Peace

Today is GLAAD's Wear Purple Day, in remembrance of the gay teens who took their lives because of bullying.

I decided to wear my purple in the form of eyeshadow. The blog exclusive step-by-step guide to completing this look can be found in below.

It's a simple and pretty purple look that is not a typical smokey eye.

And try to support the anti-hate movement, beyond just wearing purple.

I did it. I fought it off for so long, but I decided it was the next best move. I made a Twitter account. Really, I did it more for What A Pretty Face than for my personal life issues. No one wants to hear that mess.

I think it'll be a good way to share fun little tidbits that I discover, like sales, discounts and where to find the latest and greatest. And of course, there will be the occasional rambling.

I know as of now, my fan base is small, but I still like the idea of sharing tips from the world of fashion and beauty. To me it's more than just something cute to do, it's a raison d'être.

New York Fashion Week: Here I Come?

So, there's this contest.

I'm going to enter it. I never usually win anything, but it doesn't hurt to try, right?
And considering the prize is a trip to NYC for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week, Maybelline make-up products, and a chance to do make-up for a fashion show, it really won't hurt.

Especially if I win. My only problem is that I don't know what look to do. There so many ideas floating around in my head.

Oral Fixation

A woman's maturation can be measured by her lip product of choice.

We start off with fruit flavored, fun smelling sparkly lip balms. Around middle school, we've matured to reflective glittery lip glosses.
When lipstick becomes the choice for a perfect pout, then the evolution is complete.

I have only recently started investing in my lipstick collection. I love it. The color oomph is what I like the most. A good lip color adds as much detail to your style as a good pair of shoes or earrings would.

These are some of my favorites from my growing collection.

NYX Hebe- A rich pearlescent deep red 

Every woman needs a good red lipstick (I have many), but this would be great on darker skintones since it's a deeper red, with brick undertones. 

NYX Chloe- 80's Shimmery Magenta-Pink

This color is perfect for nights out when you want to go back in time. 

Dior Addict #783 Opulent Mauve - Creamy Plum Mauve

This is a great fall color. It's rich and it's not very shimmery. It's a sophisticated color.

Avon Satin Moisture Coral Blaze - Creamy Peachy Coral

This color is perfect soft summer spring color. It's very moisturizing too. 

N.Y.C. Blossom - Hot Neon Shimmery Pink

This color. Where to start. Definitely a night out color. Or for a bright flirty daytime look. 

Kiss New York Nude Beige- Soft Matte Nude

Classic J.Lo Nude Lipstick. Every make-up collection needs it. 

Neutrogena Moistureshine Angel's Blush - Baby Pink

A simple soft baby pink. It's a great spring color. 

Dior Addict #859 Ravishing Rose -Bright Pink

This color is everything I wanted in a pink color. It's bright and matte, but creamy. There's not a hint of glitter or shimmer. It's the best summer/spring feminine color I have.

J'adore Dior

If you don't know by now (you should) I'm a big dork for anything make up related. Luckily, my friends know just how much I love this stuff that when one of them had an invite for an event, she turned to me.

Last week I went to a private Dior showcase as a plus one with one of my friends. The fact that this was make up made me happy, but that it was Dior sent me over the moon. It was a very cute event. Buffet catered by Mimi's Cafe, Black Dior Curtains, white silken table cloths, but I digress. None of this is what really mattered.

It was the make-up! We had a Dior Fashion Show make up artist from Canada showing us the ropes of behind stage make up. Not only were we getting free products, but we were learning how to use them. Although I knew most of the tips he was teaching us,  it was still exciting to be there and play with Dior makeup, a brand I'd never really looked into.
